Welcome to my website and thanks for your interest.

My novel "Coppermine" was published in October by Penguin/Viking Books. It is inspired by the true story of two priests who disappear in the remote regions of the Arctic Coppermine in 1913. A lone police officer is sent to investigate, finds the two Inuit hunters who killed them and brings them back to Edmonton to stand trial in the summer of 1917.

It began as a screenplay and to research it I traveled to the site of the priests' murderers, Bloody Falls, and the Inuit campsite on the Arctic coast where the murders camped, now the village of Kugluktuk. When the project was canceled by CBC, the story happily evolved into a novel. I have been fascinated with the story for two decades and now I think the novel does it justice.
